Manakiki Golf Course

best public golf courses in ohio

Manakiki is one of the most elegant public golf courses in Ohio. It was created by Donald Ross and offers golfers a variety of challenges including doglegs, hazards, up-and-down shots, back-to-back par 5s, canyon holes and even wide open holes.

Manakiki is the Native American word for maple forest and we can understand where the course got this name by the maple tree lined fairways. Manakiki became a public course in 1961 after the private country clubs leased was not renewed.

Hole #15 is arguably the most interesting hole on the course, it has been selected as one of Cleveland’s best par 3 holes. An electric trolley once had to carry the golfers from the 15th green to the 16th tee.

Overtime the course has undergone restoration work to maintain the original and classic look of the course. A continuous path was also constructed to ensure that golf carts can operate year round so golfers can enjoy the course in all weather conditions.

Another point worth noting about Manakiki, is that you can rent your own golf cart for only $13, even if you are just a visiting player.

Mill Creek Golf Club

Mill Creek Golf Club is situated not for outside of Ostrander in Ohio. The course boasts terrific views all round with holes that are great for golfers of any skill level.

There are water hazards that come into play on several holes and large bunkers strategically placed throughout the whole round. The 17th hole is the most famous on the course, it’s only 160 yards, so initially appears seemingly easy, however it’s all uphill with a tee shot that needs to pass through a tunnel of trees to the narrow green.

Mill creek is family-owned and has a strong reputation in the community for an enjoyable round, with warm and friendly staff who are there to help you out wherever needed.
